5 questions to ask before you rent a porta potty
A porta potty quote can look simple and still hide fees, short date windows or missing cleaning. Ask these five questions on the first call, and you will know exactly what you are paying for and when the unit leaves.

What is the total cost with every fee?
The total cost of a porta potty rental is the unit price plus delivery, pickup, any service visits, fuel or card fees, and sales tax. Ask for every line in writing before you pay. A low unit price can end up higher than an all-in price once fees are added.
| Line on the quote | What to check |
|---|---|
| Unit rental | Price per unit and how many units |
| Delivery and pickup | One charge per order, or per unit? |
| Service visits | Included, or billed per visit? |
| Fuel, card or environmental fees | Listed now, or added later? |
| Sales tax | Included or added at checkout? |

Which dates does the price cover?
The dates a porta potty price covers depend on the rental type. Event rentals usually cover a short window, such as a Friday drop and Monday pickup. Jobsite rentals run 7 days or 28 days. Ask for the exact delivery date and pickup date the price includes, so a 3-day job is not billed as a month.
- Event: up to 4 days, delivered before the event.
- 7-day: short jobs, remodels and septic repairs.
- 28-day: long jobsites, billed every 4 weeks with weekly service.
Questions about your own rental?
Call and talk to the person who will deliver it.

Is cleaning included, and how often?
Cleaning should be included on any porta potty rental longer than 7 days. The standard is one service visit per week: pump the tank, scrub the seat, urinal and walls, add deodorizer and restock paper. Busy jobsites and hot summer weeks may need two visits a week.

When is pickup, and when does billing stop?
Pickup for an event unit should be a set day, usually the next business day after the event. For monthly rentals, billing should stop on the day you call for pickup, not at the end of the cycle. Ask whether you need to be home and whether the gate must be open.
What happens if plans change?
If plans change, a fair porta potty company lets you cancel or move the date with about 24 hours notice before delivery. Ask what it costs to cancel after the truck has left, and whether rain or a postponed event changes the price. Get the rule in writing.
Our rental terms spell out cancellation, date changes and damage in plain language.
