What does a restroom trailer need on site?
A restroom trailer needs a level spot about 20 by 10 feet, a clear path for a pickup truck to back it in, and one 20-amp outdoor outlet within 100 feet. A garden hose connection is helpful. Without power we bring a quiet generator for an extra fee.
- Level ground: we level the trailer with jacks, but slopes over about 6 inches are a problem.
- Access: the truck and trailer need about 12 feet of width and no low branches under 11 feet.
- Power: do not share the circuit with the caterer or band.
- Distance: place it within 150 feet of the tent so guests do not walk far in heels.
When is a restroom trailer the wrong choice?
A restroom trailer is the wrong choice when the truck cannot reach the spot, when there is no power and no room for a generator, or for a construction crew. Soft fields after rain, narrow gates and steep yards also rule out a trailer. A VIP restroom or deluxe units fit those sites.
