Festival and horse-event porta potties in Aiken
Festival porta potties handle the big crowds at Aiken steeplechase tailgates, polo matches, horse shows, street festivals and fairs. We plan unit counts by attendance and hours, place accessible units in every cluster, and service units between event days.
- Delivery area: fields, racecourses, streets and fairgrounds in Aiken, North Augusta and the Augusta area.
- Arrival: set 1–2 days before gates open. Book 6–10 weeks ahead for March and fall event weekends.
- How many: attendance × hours ÷ 200 uses per unit; at least 5% accessible in each cluster.
- Cleaning: pump-and-restock service between days, or during the event for crowds over 1,000.
- Full cost: units, hand wash stations, service visits, delivery, pickup and tax on one quote.
How many porta potties does a festival need?
A festival needs about one standard porta potty per 200 expected uses, which is attendance times hours divided by 200. A 1,000-person, 6-hour festival needs 1,000 × 6 ÷ 200 = 30 units. Add 1 unit for every 4 if alcohol is served. Make at least 5% of each cluster wheelchair-accessible.
| Attendance | 4 hours | 6 hours | 8 hours | Accessible units (5%, min. 1 per cluster) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 500 | 10 | 15 | 20 | 1 per cluster |
| 1,000 | 20 | 30 | 40 | 2 per 40-unit cluster |
| 2,500 | 50 | 75 | 100 | 3–5 across clusters |
| 5,000 | 100 | 150 | 200 | 5–10 across clusters |
Read the accessible-unit rule in the 2010 ADA Standards. Low-turnover events, where guests stay put all day, can run lighter. Busy bars and beer gardens run heavier.

What makes horse events in Aiken different?
Aiken horse events put crowds on grass fields and dirt lanes, not pavement. Steeplechase and polo tailgates spread out along rails, so restrooms need several clusters instead of one long row. March weather swings from cold mornings to warm afternoons, and spring rain softens the fields where trucks drive.
- Set clusters every 300–400 feet along the tailgate rows.
- Place units on the high side of the field, away from low wet spots.
- Service between race days on multi-day weekends.
- Ask the organizer which areas the event supplies and which tailgate lots must bring their own.
Do Aiken events need a permit for porta potties?
Yes for many public events. Aiken County parks require a special event permit when more than 75 people attend, with 2 to 4 portable toilets and at least one ADA unit by facility. Street festivals and parades in the City of Aiken need a Public Safety permit with about 30 days' notice.

Festivals & horse events questions
Quick answers to common {'festivals & horse events'} questions, each written so you can act on it right away. If a rule or a date in your plan does not match what you read here, call (803) 343-9386. Jesse's team will check your address and head count on the call.
How much do festival porta potties cost?
Festival pricing is quoted by unit count, days and service visits. Standard event units start at $165 each before volume pricing, and an extra service visit is $55 per unit. Orders over 10 units get a volume quote.
Can I rent porta potties for a Steeplechase tailgate spot?
Yes. Tell us your lot or row, guest count and race date. We place the unit at your spot if the organizer allows outside units, and pick it up after the event.
Do you provide attendants at festivals?
Yes, on request. An attendant restocks paper and soap and reports full units, so lines stay short.
Can you add hand sanitizer to every unit?
Yes. We mount sanitizer in each unit on request and set hand washing stations near food vendors.
How early should we book for the Triple Crown?
Book 6 to 10 weeks ahead for March weekends. Many tailgate groups book again for next year on pickup day.
Can units be placed on the street for a block party?
Only with a street closing or right-of-way permit. Without one, place units on private lots next to the street.
